Food program a success

The Summer Feeding Program is in full-swing at Jefferson Middle and Columbia High schools.

Both schools are taking part in the summer long initiative to provide nutrition to youth in the city. They provide both breakfast and lunch.

The schools are both reporting about 20 students for breakfast and 50 for lunch each day.

Church offers ride program

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is offering a transportation service.

They currently have six vehicles in use, each is handicapped, wheelchair accessible and can handle special needs.

As part of National Transportation Day, the church was offering free rides from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday.
