Columbia High School is addressing its parking situation for home football games and has a new plan in place.
The entrance to Walter Payton Field at the intersection of Broad Street and Branton Avenue will be closed at 6 p.m., and Pearl Street, which turns into Branton, will become a one-way street at that time.

Local stores that sell guns and accessories may be getting some new business after Walmart ended sales of ammunition for short barrel rifles and handguns.
The change is a response to last month when 22 people were killed in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
The Columbia School Board held a special meeting Sept. 4 for the sole purpose of personnel matters.

Hearings are set this week to approve budgets for both Columbia and Marion County.
The county is seeking an increase of 4.4 mills in its property tax rate, which would bring in an additional $556,914 through taxes on homes, businesses, car tags and other property.
The 4.4-mill increase is broken down roughly as follows:
Columbia and West Marion continued their hot starts in 2019, both winning Friday night to keep their records unblemished, and Columbia Academy notched its first victory of the season.
It didn’t take long for the Columbia-East Marion rivalry game to be decided as the Wildcats put 21 points on the board in the blink of an eye and routed the Eagles 60-14 on East Marion’s home turf for their sixth straight win over their bitter rival.
