Federal money allocated for Williamsburg Road bridges

The U.S. Department of Transportation is allocating $6.6 million to the Mississippi Department of Transportation replace eight bridges in Southwest Mississippi, including in Marion County.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao announced the grants Aug. 29 during remarks at the Coastal Region Transportation Summit in Biloxi.






Police hold DUI push

The Columbia Police Department is reminding folks to “drive sober or get pulled over” this holiday weekend.

During the Labor Day Weekend the CPD is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in an effort to combat drunk driving and save lives.
