A piece of local American Legion history has been discovered: Horatio Rankin Post 90’s original charter dated April 20, 1920.
Marion County Veterans Service Officer Dewey Blansett said it was found recently in a closet in the Chancery Court building.
The following marriage license applications were received by the Marion County Circuit Clerk’s Office during the week of March 12:
• Jay Lawrence Jernigan of Hattiesburg and Judy Ann Russell of Hattiesburg.
• Donald M. Ginn of Kokomo and Kandee Elaine Moody of Foxworth.

PURVIS – The last defendants in the 2015 slayings of two Hattiesburg police officers were sentenced to prison Monday in Purvis.
After a successful cruise-in and fireworks display last July 4, Main Street Manager Nik Ingram is hopeful that this year’s Freedom Fest can be even bigger and better.
Ingram spoke with the Columbia Board of Aldermen at its March 6 meeting and discussed plans for the July 7 event.
