Schools to budget snow makeup days

Next year the Columbia School District will have predetermined makeup days to be used if school is cancelled because of weather.

That decision was made before this week’s snow and ice, which resulted in school dismissing early Tuesday and being out Wednesday and Thursday. The district hasn’t set yet when it will make up those days.


Clerk shot in armed robbery

Columbia police are seeking information on suspects who shot a clerk at the Family Dollar on South High School Avenue during an armed robbery Saturday morning.

Detective Capt. Rita Pickering said they are looking for two suspects who were wearing long jackets, toboggans and scarves that covered their faces.
