Personnel issues were the main topic at the Columbia Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday.
Ordinance Officer Justin Corley addressed the board in Police Chief Michael Kelly’s absence. Upon the recommendation of Corley, the board approved the following changes:
• Frelix Roderick, full-time officer certified;

“Sidney Head and Bill Lampton of Columbia were named on the Dean’s List for the second semester at Millsaps College. … Sidney Head is the son of Sidney Head of Mt. Olive and the late Mrs. Head of Columbia. Bill Lampton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ben Lampton of Columbia.”

Katie Broom and her family at 1402 Broad St. are honored to be the recipients of the July Yard of the Month.
“It’s an honor because I do take pride in my yard,” Broom said. “I’ve done everything myself, and I love to keep a neat yard.”
Broom added it was an unexpected honor, and she appreciates being chosen.
