Indictment filed in burning


A grand jury has indicted a 19-year-old Kokomo man for allegedly burning a man by throwing gasoline on him and igniting him using a cigarette lighter.

Preston A. Fortenberry is charged with aggravated assault – extreme indifference. If found guilty, he faces one to 20 years in prison.


Law academy thanks county


Clint McMurry, director of the Columbia Law Enforcement Training Academy, presents Marion County Board of Supervisors President Terry Broome with a certificate of appreciation Tuesday for the board’s continuing support of the academy. It is located on county-owned property at the BusinessPlex (former Columbia Training School).
