West Marion High School honored its graduating athletes Friday night during its senior celebration with custom plaques.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020, in Woodlawn Cemetery for Mary York, 70, of Sumrall, who died on Monday, May 4 in Tylertown.

Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia was in charge of the arrangements.




City honors hospital workers

Marion General Hospital employees greet a parade in their honor Thursday hosted by the City of Columbia. Fire, police and other municipal vehicles rode by to thank nurses and health care workers for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic. This week is National Nurses Week, and next week is National Hospital Week.
