The following land transactions were recorded in the Marion County Chancery Clerk’s Office during the week of Jan. 8:
• Samantha L. Brayshaw to Jonathan Danford for property.
• Ann Delancey to Garrett Stewart and Amanda Stewart for property.
A Columbia water customer recently called in with a sewer problem, but there was a bigger issue: The account did not exist.
The Board of Aldermen took action Tuesday to try and cut down on such problems with people getting water service but not being billed.
Next year the Columbia School District will have predetermined makeup days to be used if school is cancelled because of weather.
That decision was made before this week’s snow and ice, which resulted in school dismissing early Tuesday and being out Wednesday and Thursday. The district hasn’t set yet when it will make up those days.
Columbia police are seeking information on suspects who shot a clerk at the Family Dollar on South High School Avenue during an armed robbery Saturday morning.
Detective Capt. Rita Pickering said they are looking for two suspects who were wearing long jackets, toboggans and scarves that covered their faces.
A shooting that left an Expose man wounded has led to charges for another Marion County man.
Burnett Flowers, 30, of Columbia was arrested shortly after the incident that occurred near 1:30 Sunday morning at 98 Ratliff Loop in Expose.
