Info sought on shooting

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help for information about a large private party Friday night that ended with three injured by gunfire.

The incident occurred after 11 p.m. outside the activity center of New Zion United Methodist Church on Rural Center Lane, which is off of Mississippi 13 south of Columbia.

She was a lifelong resident of Columbia.

 

She was preceded in death by a son, Herbie Ray Reid.

Elsie music video to premiere

The stage will be set Friday for Columbia’s own Elsie to premier her new single, “River Avenue.”

“A Night on River Avenue” is a short film and music video of the song and also the name of the downtown event at 7 p.m. A 20-foot outdoor theater screen will be set up on Second Street by Second Street Bean.

Miss Hospitality honored by city

Mayor Justin McKenzie presents 2018 Marion County Miss Hospitality Meredith Bass with a key to the city for the work she has done representing Columbia over the past year. Bass, the daughter of Mike and Melanie Bass of Columbia, is a 2015 Columbia Academy graduate and a 2019 graduate of Mississippi State University.
