Brothers in arms still give support

As the World War II veteran rose slowly from his chair to be recognized Monday during the Marion County Veterans Day program, one of his brothers in arms seated next to him placed a hand on his back to help hold him up. The assistance was both needed for practical reasons  and symbolic of the bond America’s veterans share.

West PTO hosts trunk-or-treat

Children at West Marion Primary School enjoyed a special day of Halloween fun Friday thanks to a host of volunteers.

The second annual Trunk-or-Treat was hosted by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization and featured a variety of families, organizations and first responders with games, candy, food and more.

Board smart on sales tax

For too long the state and federal governments have either cut spending to local governments or required new spending without allocating any funds for it.
