Addie Lee Thornhill Price
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church for Addie Lee Thornhill Price, 96, who gained her angel wings on Sunday, Nov. 25. Burial followed in the Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church.
She was born on June 1, 1922, in Marion County to William Esco and Susan Ruby Powell Thornhill. She resided most of her life in the Pine Grove community. In her later years, she lived mainly with her youngest son in Plant City, Fla. She was married to the love of her life, James Wallace (J.W.) Price, for 62 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved visiting with friends and family, telling stories of times gone by, going to auctions, gardening and fishing. She was a devout Christian and a pillar of her church, Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church. In 2010, she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting the Holy Land and walking in the steps of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She had a particularly moving experience in the Garden of Gethsemane.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Price; son, James Wendell Price Sr.; sisters, Lizzie Mae Craft, Daisy Ray Dunaway and Erma Ree Robbins; brothers, Earl Thomas, Joseph Alton and Jewel Clifton Thornhill.
Survivors include two sons, Wilvie Price (Emily) of Pine Grove and Gary Weyman Price, M.D. of Plant City, Fla.; five grandchildren, Connie Jones (Jeff) of Purvis, Cindy Cantrell (David) of Hattiesburg, Jamie Price (Ashley) of Jackson, Kim Rogers (Danny) of Columbia and Kerri Watkins (Steven) of Madison; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Maggie Kate, Chloe, Ellyson and Emma; a dear friend, Thomas William Duncan, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A huge loss for her earthly family is heaven’s gain, as she has a joyous reunion with her loved ones.
