Claire Marie Mackin
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia for Claire Marie Mackin, 92, of Hattiesburg, who died on Friday, May 3 at her residence. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Father Tommy Conway and Father Martin Gillespie will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Hathorn Funeral Home and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday, May 11 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother who cared for and nurtured her children. She always embraced life, was a good friend and also a good steward to her Lord. She participated in the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Fleet Reserves. Her family recalls her love of playing Scrabble and how music and dancing always brought her great joy and laughter. She was an avid sewer and the family fondly referred to her as their little firecracker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ulga Poirier Carlos; late husbands, Russell Albert Hubert and Paul Mackin; two sisters, Joyce Whiteman and Lucille Spivey; three brothers, Claude Carlos, Gene Carlos and Reuben Carlos, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her three daughters, Joan Berry (Herbert) of Columbia, Debra Porche of Hattiesburg and Susan Haas (George) of Carson City, Nev.; two sons, Gary Hubert (Toni) of Harvey, La., and Dan Hubert (Anna) of Arlington, Wash.; three brothers, Roy Carlos, Guy Carlos and Donald Carlos, all of Bayou Black, La.; one sister, Iris Petre of Bayou Black; 14 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Allen Hubert, Shelton Cole Morgan, Gregg Molinaro, Tony Nunes, George Hass and Chad Viniard. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
