 C.L. Mayhew Sr., 64, died Friday, March 29, 2019 in Bassfield.

Saulters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Coy Lee Mayhew Sr. was born on March 6, 1955, in Arkansas to Mr. Coy Lee Mayhew and Mrs. Agnes Smith Mayhew. After serving our country in the U.S. Army. He became a crew chief for American Airlines and held that position for 25 plus years. He was preceded in death by his father and several grandchildren.

Mr. Mayhew is survived by his fiancé, Glenda Johnson of Bogue Chitto; three sons, C. L. Mayhew Jr. of Waxahachie, Texas, Aaron Don Mayhew of Weatherford, Texas, and Lance Mayhew of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Terri Sue Hunter of Halton City, Texas, and Terra Mayhew of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one step-son, Josh Cramer of Benbrook, Texas; his mother, Agnes Mayhew of Boyd, Texas; three sisters, Shirley Hogue, Mary Lemieux and Carolyn Reed; and two brothers, Jack and Billy Mayhew.

Memorial for Bassfield man set for Friday

Friends and family will hold a memorial at 6 p.m. Friday at the Columbia Country Club in honor of a Bassfield man killed in a wreck March 29 in Jeff Davis County. C.L. Mayhew, 64, died after a collision with a log truck on Mississippi 35.

He worked in Columbia for many years for electrician Jeff Sanders and at the former Double D. Everyone is welcome at the memorial, and there will be an open bar and live band.
