Homer L. Ferrell
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Columbia for Homer L. Ferrell, 87, of Columbia, who died on Saturday, March 30 in Columbia. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Bryant Barnes, Bro. Tom Thurman and Dr. J. Roy McComb officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 31 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, where he was a member of the Hugh Dickens Sunday School Class and Brotherhood. He retired from Enterprise Products as terminal manager after 36 years. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He enjoyed collecting and showing antique engines as a member of the Dixieland Old Engine Club. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Beulah Ferrell; one brother, Benny Ferrell, and one sister, Hazel Alsip.
Survivors include his wife, Ouida Ferrell of Columbia; three daughters, Becky Armstrong (Kevin) of Starkville, Ramona Burns (Tom) of Arlington, Texas, and Debbie Morris (Charles) of Ridgeland; four grandchildren, Sarah Morris, Kate Morris, Aubrey Claire Armstrong and Grayson Armstrong, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Stanley Haddox, Jeffery Haddox, Ed Nelson, Bruce Camp, Jerry Brumbaugh and Justin McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Davis, Phillip Ezell, Raymond Lee, Robert Winfield, Glen Parker and the Hugh Dickens Sunday School Class.
