Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for Jacquelyn Walton Kennington, 82, of Columbia, who passed away on Monday, May 13 at her residence. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday, May 17 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

A native of Albany, Ga., she was an interior designer whose career spanned from Jackson to Grenada and Starkville, where she retired having worked many years designing interiors for the Sunburst Banking System, now Regions Bank. She was called “Mom” and loved by young men and women from all over the world. She and Warnie opened their home to many for meals, lodging, hugs or just to talk. Many still kept in touch with her even though Alzheimer’s had taken away her memory. She was just as devoted to her family, especially her husband, Warnie, who predeceased her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warnie Crawford Kennington Jr., and parents, Bernard and Ophelia Griffin Walton.

Survivors include her two daughters, Leigh Berry (Jeff) of Columbia and Hallie Kennington of Canton; two brothers-in-law, Roy Kennington (Martie) of Atlanta and Bruce Kennington (Carolyn) of Ocean City, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Hallie Hull (C.G.) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Fredda Kennington of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Sabra Kennington of Allentown, Pa.; two grandchildren, Ford Thomas of Canton and Tyler Berry (fiancé, Katie) of Columbia; two foster grandchildren, “Little Bit” and Eli; caregivers, Martha Hill and Denae Hammond, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations can be made to the “Christmas for Kids” program sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Columbia, 107 Walter Payton Dr. #124, Columbia, MS 39429.

Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.hathornfuneralhome.com.
