Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church for Mary E. Bankston, 83, of Columbia, who died on Thursday, May 16 in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Todd Sumrall officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 2 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday, May 19 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.O. Bankston; parents, Ernest and Lottie Ratcliff; two sisters, Gladys Smith and Annelle Priest; three brothers, Charles "Jake" Ratcliff, Ernest "Pete" Ratliff and R.B. Ratcliff, and one grandchild, Trafton Rowley.
Survivors included her three daughters, Rebecca Williamson (Gerald) and Gail Bankston, both of Columbia, and Sheila B. Stringer of Foxworth; one son, Birch Bankston (Debra) of Lumberton; one brother, Johnny B. Ratcliff; four grandchildren, Matthew Rowley (Amanda), Stephanie Stringer (Ryan), Neil Stringer (Melissa) and Joshua Bankston; two step-grandchildren, Michael Alford (Pamela) and Kristy Alford; seven great-grandchildren, Brodi Rowley, Maddax Rowley, Kaylee Stringer, Kolby Stringer, Kamron Stringer, Christina Bankston and Sadie Stringer; five step-great-grandchildren, Drake Moore, Sham Alford, Karim Alford, Halie Alford and Brooke Alford.
Pallbearers were Matthew Rowley, Brodi Rowley, Neil Stringer, Ryan Stringer, Josh Bankston and Gerald Williamson.
