Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, in Cook Cemetery for Naomi S. McDaniel, 86, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, July 31 in Hattiesburg. Rev. Kenny Peavey officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Columbia, she was a homemaker and a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
Ms. McDaniel was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Thompson; granddaughter, Amy Thompson; grandson, Jason Dunaway; parents, Reese and Ava Shivers, and sisters, Dolores Wascomb and Martha L. Ratliff.
Survivors include her two daughters, Laura Bullock of Columbia and Ava McDaniel of Hattiesburg; five sons, David McDaniel (Sandra), Garry McDaniel (Peggy), Joel McDaniel (Kay) and Darren McDaniel, all of Columbia, and John McDaniel of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Donald Shivers (Rita) and Ronnie Shivers (Glenda), both of Columbia; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
