Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Rose Virginia Crook McKinley, 93, of Columbia, who died on Tuesday, March 5 in Columbia. Burial followed in New Bunker Hill Cemetery. Bro. Chris Turnage and Bro. Reuben McDowell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Thursday, March 7 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samie "Fulton" and Lois "Belle" Alford Crook; one son, James Colbert McKinley Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kay Israel McKinley, and one grandson, James Colbert McKinley III.
Survivors include her son, Samuel Webster McKinley (Mae) of Jackson; daughter, Donna Rackley (Bill) of Columbia; five grandchildren, William McKinley (Anne) of Atlanta, Mandi McKinley Carpenter (Chad) of Bayfield, Colo., Nathan McKinley (Jessy) of Grand Junction, Colo., William Hunter Rackley of Hattiesburg and John Gregory Rackley (Pamela) of Madison; six great-grandchildren, Josh McKinley of Atlanta and Peyton McKinley and Bryn McKinley, both of Grand Junction, Eliza Gray Rackley of Madison, Knox Colbert Rackley of Madison, Andrew Carpenter of Bayfield; one niece and a number of nephews.
Pallbearers were Dick Barnes, Mike Barnes, Phil Barnes, Mark Ridgeway, Hunter Rackley and John Rackley.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Columbia in her memory.
