A native of Jackson, he was a registered architect whose career spanned from Jackson to Grenada and Starkville, where he retired. He loved to create not only through designing buildings, planes and woodwork, but also in the kitchen. You were truly special if you were given one of his famous smoked turkeys.
He was devoted to his wife of 61 years, Jacque, and seldom spent time away from her. He was truly happy when he was with his family, entertaining and making new friends.
He served unselfishly in the Kiwanis Club in each town he lived, as well as on the district level for the LaMissTenn District. He served as the District Governor, Circle K Administrator and has received numerous Kiwanis honors, most notably the District Foundation Tablet of Honor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warnie Sr. and Wilma Stillions Kennington, and two brothers, William "Bill" Kennington and Robert "Bob" Kennington.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Kennington of Columbia; two daughters, Leigh Berry (Jeff) of Columbia and Hallie Kennington of Canton; two brothers, Roy Kennington (Martie) of Lake Mary, Fla., and Bruce Kennington (Carolyn) of Ocean City, Md.; one sister, Hallie Hull (C.G.) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two sisters-in-law, Fredda Kennington of Reeds Spring, Missouri and Sabra Kennington of Allentown, Pa.; two grandchildren, Ford Thomas of Canton and Tyler Berry of Columbia; one foster grandchild, “Little Bit”; caregiver, Martha Hill of Kokomo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
