McCoy tough, competent Speaker

STARKVILLE — Mississippi House Speaker William J. “Billy” McCoy was a second-generation state lawmaker, a college-educated vocational agriculture teacher, a Farmers Home Administration loan officer and briefly an auditor for the state — and yes, he was a farmer and one of his family’s successful cash crops was red wiggler worms.




Two-party system has merits

Mississippi’s local and state elections are done for another four years. The Republican Party stays in power.

Unlike many elections around the world, few people questioned the validity of our state’s election process. It is a great blessing to live in a state and country that has a legitimate and trusted democratic process.
