A Saturday evening shooting in Foxworth claimed the life of one female victim, while the male suspect is in critical condition following a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Nobody else was harmed in the incident.
The shooting took place on Mississippi 586 at the intersection between Taylor Cutoff and Mount Sinai Road. The male suspect shot and killed the female victim then attempted to take his own life.
While the suspect suffered life-threatening injuries from the self-inflicted gunshot, he drove away from the scene to Christian Hill Church on Water Valley Road. The suspect’s vehicle was found behind the church by deputies of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, who, with the assistance of Columbia Police officers, located the suspect in the woods. He was taken into custody without further incident and transferred to the hospital.
