A 20-year-old Columbia man has been charged after shooting a firearm towards a family member April 20 following a disagreement. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Dispatch received a shots fired call in the area of Carolyn Avenue and Askew Street, and officers quickly learned that Tyson Johnson had shot at a family member. Columbia Police investigators worked the scene, apprehended Johnson and took him to the Columbia police station for questioning.

Investigators reported that Johnson was honest, forthcoming and cooperative throughout the investigation, explaining to officers what transpired that led to him shooting the firearm.
Johnson was formally arrested April 21 and charged with aggravated assault: use of a deadly weapon, and his bond was set at $20,000. He has since bonded out of the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility.
