Brother Lawrence was a lay member of a Carmelite monastery in 17th century France. In the book “The Practice of the Presence of God” which contains conversations and letters by Brother Lawrence about his spiritual discipline; the following excerpt is recorded: "The time of business," he said, "does not with me differ from the time of prayer.
