While SpaceX did buy Pioneer Aerospace in bankruptcy court on Nov. 22, Elon Musk’s company’s purchase will have no effect on Columbia.
Marion County Development Partnership President Lori Watts clarified that SpaceX purchased the Connecticut division of Pioneer, not the Mississippi division.
A separate company, Paradigm, purchased the Mississippi division, whose plans are not yet know.
Watts said there may still be some potential for a different company to move into that building, as well as other companies being interested in Pioneer’s talented workforce, but there is nothing concrete at this time.
