Pictured is a baptism that took place on Aug. 2, 1941 on Brushy Creek near Lavelle "Buck" Breakfield's house. Brushy Creek Missionary Baptist Church is located at 398 Brushy Creek Rd in Columbia. The following were baptized after making a profession of faith the previous day. Claude Welch, Edna Earl Welch, Evon Sanders, Doris Davis Nobley, Byron Sanders, Ethel Sanders, Juanita Rayborn, John W. Sumrall, Nell Cook, Mary Sanders, Ernest (Dusty) Herrington, Creel Hilbun, Leona Miller, Earl Cook, Nancy Moree, Grace Moree, Sylvia Oglesbee, Ethel S. Dunnaway, Julia Bounds, George Bounds, Murtie Boone, Marvin Breakfield, Melonea Blackwell and Lanade Blackwell. A large crowd was on hand to witness it. The church was organized May 25, 1913 and will be celebrating the 110th anniversary next month.| Photo submitted
