The Mississippi Circuit Clerk’s Association recently met for their annual convention and educational conference. Included in the latest meeting was the installation of officers for the upcoming year.
Arnell Harried of Jefferson County was sworn in as the 90th President of the association. Harried was appointed, then elected within 3 months in 2007. His goal is to retire as Jefferson County’s Circuit Clerk.
Other new officers installed were Cecelia Bounds of Greene County as First Vice-President; Jeff Busby of Lafayette County as Second Vice-President; Zack Wallace of Hinds County as Treasurer and Janette Nolan of Marion County as Secretary.
Each officer will hold their position for a one-year term.
Established in 1936, the Mississippi Circuit Clerks Association consists of locally elected circuit court clerks from all 82 counties. Circuit clerks are responsible for maintaining the files of the circuit courts, recording marriage licenses, voter registration, assisting election commissioners with all elections, as well as several other ministerial duties. The association meets semi-annually for educational seminars and networking opportunities.
