“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9a (NKJV)
What an encouraging verse for those who want a deeper relationship with God, and are engaged in the business of drawing near to Him. It says to me that God is actively searching for those who have a genuine faith in Him; that He is looking for those who are looking for Him.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17 (NKJV)
Not only is He searching with His eyes, He hears every genuine cry that we raise to Him, and He always answers those cries.
So then, we have a God Who loves us and is constantly on alert for any evidence of our devotion or need, a God Who is willing and able to do whatever is necessary to ensure that our cries are answered and our needs met.
Then why are so many who claim salvation through Jesus not loyal to His word and will; why are so many not crying out to God in earnest? I think that it is because they/we are convinced that we can do it ourselves; we don’t really need God, we have the abilities and intelligence to do this alone. It is only after having exhausted all other possibilities that we turn, or return, to God for the help and hope that we so desperately need. When there is any sort of disaster or serious illness we flood the altars with prayers and petitions; then all too soon we return to ignoring Him until the next tragedy envelops us. These actions do not come from those spoken of in the 2 verses above; they do not come from the loyal and righteous. They come from the proud and self righteous among us.
We must decide whether we are to be found among the faithful, among the loyal and the righteous; or are we camping with the proud and self righteous? God will move heaven and earth to get to His faithful in need when they cry out to Him. It has been my observation that God is often not so responsive to those who do not genuinely seek Him.
