Columbia Academy split its last two games, falling to Lamar Christian before bouncing back with a home win against East Rankin Academy.
The Cougars (5-9) opened the stretch with a 59-53 loss to Lamar Christian (15-6) on Friday. The matchup stayed competitive throughout, but Lamar Christian did enough to secure the six-point win.
Brett Sims paced the Cougars, putting 11 points on the board throughout the game. Daniel Lowery wasn’t far behind, tacking on another nine points. Carter Fortenberry and Chayse Cox added eight points each.
Despite the loss, Columbia Academy stayed within striking distance for much of the contest.
The Cougars responded in their next game with a 71-48 victory over East Rankin Academy (4-15), pulling away early and maintaining control for all four quarters.
Daniel Lowery led Columbia Academy in scoring racking up 28 points throughout the game.
Defensively, Columbia Academy forced East Rankin Academy into several turnovers during the game, helping fuel the 23-point win.
The victory improved Columbia Academy’s momentum heading into the next stretch of the season, as the team looks to build consistency on both ends of the floor.
Columbia Academy faced off against Amite School Center on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
