Former Columbia High football star Joshua Brown, who has starred in the Jones College secondary this season, has been arrested for the murder of a Jackson State student that occurred on Sunday.
Brown, 19, of Columbia was taken into custody by Jones College Campus Police Wednesday on a bench warrant issued by Hinds County. He was turned over to the Jackson State University Police Department, according to a statement released by Jones College. Brown was then transferred to the Hinds County Detention Center and booked into jail at the Raymond Detention Center Thursday morning, according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones.
Brown allegedly shot and killed Jaylen Burns, 21, at 1400 John R Lynch St. Sunday, according to an affidavit issued in Hinds County.
He is also charged with possessing a silver 9mm semi-automatic handgun on school property, according to the affidavit.
