The Columbia Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident July 3 on Carolyn Avenue, and what they found was a suspect who ended up being charged with even more than that.
Robert Deron Himes, 33, of Hattiesburg was charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of false identification cards, tampering with physical evidence, shoplifting of less than $250 and resisting arrest.
When officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that the suspect had fled the scene. The accuser gave a description of the suspect and the direction he was traveling.
Officers located a subject matching the description running behind residences along the 700 block of Owens Street. They detained the suspect and identified him as Himes. -
