The Marion County Circuit Court is currently in session with two trial dates being set for murder cases.
The trial for Dayshon Allen and Bryston Martin, both charged with the second-degree murder of Tajuan Kendricks, is set for June 20. Christopher Derrick Hobgood, who has been charged with the second-degree murder of James Hall, will see his day in court on June 7.
Allen and Martin’s charges stem from a shooting that took place on Aug. 30, 2020 at Allen's residence on Hale Street in Columbia. Kendricks was found dead in a bullet-ridden black Mercedes outside of the home. Through the investigation, law enforcement made contact and arrested Allen and Martin in Columbia.
Christopher Derrick Hobgood appears before Mozingo.
Hobgood and Hall were allegedly involved in an altercation during a card game on April 23. Hall was taken to Forrest General Hospital on April 25 with life-threatening injuries from the altercation and succumbed to those injuries on April 27. Hobgood was originally charged with aggravated assault, but the charge was upgraded when Hall passed away.
Both cases will be heard before Circuit Court Judge Anthony Mozingo.
If they are found guilty, each one faces up to life in prison.
