A Columbia woman is facing several years in jail and thousands of dollars in fines after she was indicted on five counts of possession of controlled substances last week.
Sherri Denise Hartwell, 34, of Columbia was indicted on Oct. 14.
The arrest stems from an alleged purse snatching incident from May 2019.
The investigation led to Hartwell’s rental home, where search warrants were executed. During the search, police discovered that Hartwell and Terryon La Mez Thomas had in their possession between 10 and 30 grams of methamphetamine, between two and 10 dosage units of Lisdexamfetamine, between .1 gram and two grams of cocaine and between two and 10 clandestine doses of methamphetamine, all of which are considered Schedule II controlled substances. Also discovered in their possession were between two and 10 dosage units of Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is considered a Schedule I controlled substance.
Thomas had already been previously indicted in the matter.
If found guilty on all counts, Hartwell could receive up to 45 years in prison and more than one million dollars in fines.
