A traffic stop on Sunday for driving on the wrong side of the road led to an arrest with multiple charges for a Prentiss man.
Michael Lynn Young, 50, was arrested on charges of controlled substance, possession of Schedule I-II drug (over 2 to 10 grams); controlled substance, paraphernalia-use, possession, possession with intent to use, driving while license suspended; DUI 1st offense (1)(b) under the influence of any substance that would impair; careless driving and tampering with physical evidence. He also was indicted on a bad check law violation and identity theft.
Capt. Pete Williams with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Young was observed allegedly driving on the wrong side of Bethel Church Road. While the deputies were speaking with Young, there appeared to be a meth pipe between his legs. The deputies then asked Young to step out of the vehicle. During a pat down search, it was discovered that Young had a little more than five grams of methamphetamine concealed in his sock.
After refusing sobriety tests, Young was transported to jail. Upon arrival at the Marion County Jail, a sheriff’s deputy noticed more meth on the floorboard of the vehicle where Young allegedly attempted to discard the drugs.
Young is currently in the Marion County Jail with a bond for $57,000.
