Gavin Davis was selected to participate in the 43rd cohort of Mississippi Governor’s School on June 2. Mississippi Governor’s School is a residential honors program established in 1981 by Governor William F. Winter at Mississippi University for Women. Governor’s School is designed to provide academic, creative, and leadership experiences for a limited number of rising high school juniors and seniors who have demonstrated exceptional ability and achievement in their studies and show high intellectual, creative, and leadership potential.
Gavin is the son of Ryan and Vickie Davis of Foxworth.
Gavin Davis has completed the 11th-grade at Columbia High School where he has received the following awards: ACT 29 plus club, a member of the CHS Marching Wildcats two time State Marching Band Grand Champions, Boys State Delegate, Mosaic Summer Enrichment Program through UMMC, Exploring Healthcare Pathways Conference, and the Pathways to Leadership Conference at the University of Mississippi.
His additional school and community activities include membership at Shiloh Baptist Church, CHS Wildcat Ambassador, Student Council officer, the Voices of CHS, BETA Club, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Spanish Honor Society, International Thespian Society, National Society of High School Scholars, CHS Book
Club, Phi Theta Kappa, participant in CHS annual musical productions, and the American Student Dental Association.
In his career, he plans to pursue a degree from a university in biochemistry followed by dental
school.
