After nearly a month away from game action because of a voluntary shutdown, the East Marion Lady Eagles returned to action Tuesday.
It didn’t go as well as they would have liked as the Lady Eagles (2-5, 0-1) lost 51-25 at home to North Forrest, scoring just 10 points in the first half. East Marion had a particularly rough time dealing with North Forrest’s full-court press defense, having multiple possessions end in a turnover before reaching half court. In all the Lady Eagles turned it over 15 times against just four assists.
Dyani Weary led the Lady Eagles with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Destiny Brown had 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field and 0-for-5 from behind the arc to go along with five rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals. Lia Smith, who also had six rebounds and two steals, was the only other East Marion to score (three points) even though all of her scoring output came from the free throw line.
Head coach Calvin Brown could not be reached for comment.
East Marion went on the road Friday night to take on St. Patrick, but results were unavailable at press time. The Lady Eagles will play at Collins Tuesday.
