Two Marion County stars have been selected to the 2024 Mississippi Sports Medicine North/South All-Star Basketball Games rosters. East Marion’s Caden Mingo will participate in the 1A/2A/3A/4A boys game, and Columbia’s Jakira Brown will play in the 1A/2A/3A/4A girls game.
Mingo is averaging just shy of 10 points per game for the 7-6 Eagles, and he leads the team in three-point shooting with 11 makes on 31 attempts (35%). His 38 steals in the 2023-24 season lead East Marion. Mingo battled back from a shoulder injury that ended his football season to help the Eagles on the hardwood this year.
Brown leads the Lady Wildcats in points per game (14.9), total points scored (224), field goals (92) and made three-pointers (14). Brown has been the leading force for the Lady Wildcats this season, helping them achieve a 3-0 district record and 12-4 overall record heading into Friday’s games.
The 2024 Mississippi Sports Medicine North/South All-Star Basketball Games will take place at Mississippi College in Clinton March 16. The girls game will tip-off at noon, and the boys game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
