The Marion County FSA Office announces that the 2024 County Committee Election is underway and that ballots will be mailed in early November to registered farmers in local administrative area 1 which includes the area West of the Pearl River. All eligible farmers in this year’s election area are encouraged to participate by voting for the candidate of their choice. The election is conducted by mail. Producers needing information about voting eligibility can find election information and fact sheets at our web site: www.fsa.usda.gov/or by visiting their local FSA County Office at 4 Bellewood Park in Columbia. FSA County Committees administer the Federal Farm Programs of USDA. This year’s candidates in LAA 1 include:
Sedgie R. Foxworth - Mr. Foxworth, resides in the Foxworth Community. He is timber producer and has operated his farm for 45 years. He currently is a member of the South MS Planning and Development.
Sedgie Foxworth is willing to serve if elected.
Roman L. Rials - Roman Rials resides in the Darbun Community where he operates a dairy and beef operation along with row cropping for over 23 years. He currently serves on the Southeast Milk Dairy Alliance.
Roman Rials is willing to serve if elected.
All known eligible voters in LAA-1 will be mailed ballots on Monday, November 4, 2024. Each eligible voter is asked to vote for the candidate of their choice and return their voted ballot to the Marion County FSA Office by Monday, December 2, 2024.
A public meeting will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 9:00 am in the FSA office to count the ballots.
