Darbun, Miss.— In the heart of our community, a young cowboy is making headlines in the rodeo scene. Meet 6-year-old Copper Turnage, the rising star of mini bulls and miniature bucking broncos.
Having entered the rodeo circuit just two years ago, Turnage has swiftly climbed the ranks, securing first place in multiple competitions, predominantly in the Legends 37 Youth Rodeo Association. However, his crowning achievement this year was qualifying for the World Champion Miniature Bull Riding Finals (WCMB finals).
In a recent journey to Mesquite, Texas, Turnage showcased true grit and determination. Competing in the WCMB finals, Turnage not only completed in the challenging event but finished an impressive 17th in the world for 6-and-under miniature bull riding. Notably, Turnage managed to stay on every bull he faced during the finals.
The Texan adventure brought more than victories; Turnage had the chance to meet Cody Lambert, a PBR legend and coach of the Texas Rattlers professional bull riding team. In a bold move, Turnage told Lambert to remember his name, asserting that he'd be riding on Lambert's team one day.
Behind this remarkable success is Turnage's unwavering dedication. Throughout the year, he underwent strenuous daily workouts and regularly rode bucking horses at his family's farm in Darbun. A unique aspect of his training regimen involved standing on a basketball for an hour each night, a practice aimed at enhancing his balance.
As the beginning of his next rodeo season draws near, it brings more than just excitement; it also brings several expenses for this cowboy. Between travel, entry fees and membership fees, the cost adds up. Copper is looking for sponsors for this 2024 season.

Keep an eye out for Copper Turnage — a little cowboy with big dreams who's undoubtedly going places.
