In a year where it seems everything that can go wrong will go wrong, members of Improve Baptist Church know now more than ever that people need Jesus. To help with that need, the church will be doing its annual Scenes of Christ this weekend, Dec. 5 and 6.
Pastor Darel Daniels with Improve said the entire way they have done the scenes in the past had to be revamped because of the pandemic. The scenes were originally set up for individuals to walk along a path with various scenes of Jesus’ life portrayed, and the scenes were interactive. This year instead it is set up for people to drive through and see the scenes.
“The only interaction people will have this year is when they roll down their windows and receive a narration card,” Daniels said.
Drivers will receive a narration card to read as they arrive at each scene. The card will explain the scene to everyone in the vehicle. At the end of the program, the cards can be placed in a container as people leave.
Daniels said even though they had to make changes to how they have always put on the scenes, in the end it is still all about telling people about Jesus.
Scenes of Christ will be available for viewing between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
There is no cost to attend, and rain or shine the event will still take place. Improve Baptist Church is located at 2979 Mississippi 44.
