The average American worker has been with their current employer for 4.2 years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mack Davis has that beat by almost 10 times.
The Citizens Bank vice president was honored during a retirement reception Thursday for 41.5 years with the Columbia-based bank.
Executives presented him with a framed resolution and a clock while praising his service.
“You have been Mr. Consistency throughout and have been just a great example to others at the bank,” CEO Lee Fedric said to the assembly of family and co-workers at the home branch on Main Street.
Davis was a loan officer for most of his career before switching to a real estate evaluator in 2012 when new regulations made that position necessary. Chief Operating Officer Robin Sanderson said it can be a difficult position to both protect the bank and satisfy loan officers, but that Davis did it without any problems. She said he blazed a trail that others are traveling smoothly on now.
“As we move ahead, I know the Lord is going to bless you because of how you’ve blessed us,” Sanderson said.
President Chip Williamson also praised Davis’s work in evaluations, saying Davis took it from infancy and made it one of the bank’s strongest departments.
Williamson noted Davis has also been active in the community, serving in the Lions Club and at Holly Springs Baptist Church.
When it came turn for his speech, Davis said he felt like actors at awards shows who don’t prepare notes but want to make sure they thank everybody. He expressed appreciation to co-workers past and present and for management and the board for giving him the opportunity to advance.
“I just appreciate all the bank has done for me in allowing me to provide for my family,” he said.
