Bond has been set at more than $1 million for a Kokomo man facing murder and other charges after a body was found in a burning car.
Meanwhile, the state Crime Lab is doing DNA analysis as it continues to try to get a positive identification of the victim.
Henry Sammy Foil, 33, made his initial appearance in Marion County Justice Court Wednesday, and Judge Gwen Broom set his bond at $1,025,000: $1 million on the murder charge, $20,000 on an arson charge and $5,000 on a tampering with evidence charge. He remained in the Marion County Jail as of press deadlines.
His father, Bradley N. Foil, 55, of Kokomo is charged with hindering prosecution and also made his initial appearance Wednesday. He was later released on bond.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Southwest Marion Volunteer Fire Department found the body in a burning vehicle Feb. 22 on Knoxo Road in Kokomo. Burns prevented identification. A preliminary autopsy has been completed, and the State Crime Lab is now using DNA to determine the identity.
“At first we didn’t know if it was a man or a woman. That’s how bad it was,” Coroner Norma Williamson said Thursday. “It’s not like CSI where they do it in 30 minutes. It may take two or three weeks.”
Members of a Foxworth man’s family have indicated on social media he was the victim, and they were present at the bond hearing. The C-P is withholding publication of the victim’s identity until it is officially confirmed.
