Lullabies Children’s Boutique opened in August 2016 and has offered Columbia a high-quality, one-stop shop with unbeatable prices.
Owner Kim Sullivan said her inspiration for opening the business was simple.
“One word: grandbabies. People were always fussing about going to Hattiesburg to find stuff and wanted something local,” she said. “We had one, but it never hurts to have two and have a little variety close to home.”
Lullabies provides local shoppers with myriad items for every occasion from new moms to birthdays.
“I do a lot of shower gifts. I have all kind of gifts and birthday items for newborn babies and also have stuff up to bigger girls,” Sullivan said. “I have clothing, all your essentials you need for a baby like blankets, take-me-home outfits, girls clothing all the way up to size 14-16, baby and teen jewelry, bows galore, baby books and pretty much anything a new mom needs.”
Sullivan works alongside her mom, Sherrill Reagan, as well as Tracey Clark, and isn’t a stranger to running a business.
“My husband and I built R&K Pit Stop in Foxworth, so that was my first business. I’m a registered nurse, so this was a bit of a change,” she said.
Sullivan said she hears a lot of feedback from customers, saying they are glad there is a local store so they don’t need to make the trek to Hattiesburg. She also added she believes it’s important to shop local and loves seeing smiling and happy customers.
“I enjoy my customers and the kids that come in,” she said. “I love children and have grandchildren. I get to see a lot of old friends that I haven’t seen and make new friends.”
The goal is to someday expand and have more gift items, according to Sullivan, and Lullabies is always offering competitive prices.
“I do seasonal sales and every so often I’ll do flash sales. I always have an on-sale rack in here of some kind,” she said. “It varies from time to time.”
In fact, if customers mention this business feature on Lullabies at checkout, they will receive 15 percent off.
Sullivan said she believes the style of clothing options at an affordable rate is what separates Lullabies from its competition.
“I have really good prices on my items from what I’ve seen compared to other boutiques in Hattiesburg and the area,” she said. “A lot of people that come in make that statement that I have really good prices on quality clothes.”
Lullabies, located at 1437 U.S. Hwy. 98 East, Suite 5, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The store can be reached at (601) 633-0860.
