City officials will honor local teams that played in the World Series with a parade.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in Columbia, according to Mayor Justin McKenzie.
“It will head down Main Street and end at City Hall,” he said. “We’re inviting any of our All-Star teams that went to the World Series to join the parade. We will be meeting at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday and want to be ready to roll about 9:50 a.m.”
McKenzie said officials wanted to honor the young athletes for their accomplishments.
“We’ll have a short ceremony at City Hall following the event,” he concluded.
