Marion County is set to host a gospel concert in late May that organizers hope will be the beginning of something special. The Memorial Day Weekend Gospel Jubilee will be hosted May 25 at the Columbia Academy Fine Arts Building and will feature a trio of talented and respected gospel quartets.
The concert will feature the likes of Gold City, Four the King, which features Columbia Academy graduate Lucas Stringer, and The Bibletones featuring Colonial Funeral Home General Manager Danny Jackson. The Bibletones are the oldest gospel quartet in Mississippi.
“It’s going to be a great time and a great turnout, I hope,” Stringer said. “We hope it will bring people from all over. Gold City is the best it has ever been. They have got the best lineup currently than they have ever had.”
Stringer said the concert originated out of wanting to promote Southern gospel music in Marion County, and the hope is for it to become an annual event.
Gold City, an extremely popular quartet from Alabama, is the big ticket item of the event, according to Stringer.
Tickets will be available at the door for $15, while Artist Circle tickets are available for $20. Artist Circle tickets allows for seating in the first few rows.
