The third annual Makers and Mudbugs, renowned for its exceptional crawfish, will return downtown Saturday, May 10, on Second Street. The event, which is put on by Main Street, Inc., has more than 30 vendors already confirmed.
This year’s event falls on Mother’s Day weekend, and Main Street Event Coordinator Jenn Thornhill said if it’s received well, Main Street, Inc. may make the event a permanent Mother’s Day tradition for downtown Columbia.
The Marquee will also be open during the event and will feature live music as well as vendors, and Southern Collective Upscale Market will also be open. Thornhill said Main Street, Inc. encourages all of the downtown businesses to be open during the event.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
The “Second Saturday Summer Concert Series” is being revamped for 2025 and will be moved to the daytime from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Marquee will also feature music indoors from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“We’re moving it to the daytime so that we can have more foot traffic and less dealing with the elements,” Thornhill said. “Hopefully, we grow it and can be open all day and party all night.”
Hub City Mojo has already been booked for June’s second Saturday. Thornhill said more information about the concert series following the Makers and Mudbugs event.
