The Marion County Historical Society is hosting the 60th Annual Heritage Festival Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at City Park.
Marion County Development Partnership President Lori Watts said she believes this could be a big year for the event with the updated Friendship Park, which will allow children to play safely while parents enjoy the festival.
“That's been something that's been lacking over the last several years,” she said.
The Mississippi Choctaw Dancers are scheduled to return once again, and American Legion Post 90 is scheduled to do a flag retirement ceremony at 11 a.m. The event will also include music, history, crafts, William Carey’s Knights of Jazz and more.
Vendors and food trucks interested in participating in the event must sign up no later than this Saturday and can do so by emailing marioncountyhist@yahoo.com or calling (601) 731-3999.
