After an extensive search spanning several months, Maxine Demetrice Perkins has been apprehended by law enforcement. The arrest was made possible due to an anonymous tip received by detectives, indicating Ms. Perkins' presence inside a Dollar Tree store in Columbia.
Detective Michael Turner and Detective David Thompson responded promptly to the tip and located Ms. Perkins within the store. Upon making contact, Ms. Perkins resisted the officers' attempts to detain her. Following her apprehension, Ms. Perkins feigned a medical emergency, necessitating her transport to Marion General Hospital as a precautionary measure.

While in the emergency room, Ms. Perkins engaged in inappropriate behavior by exposing herself and performing a lewd act. After being medically cleared, she was transported to the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility. Ms. Perkins now faces multiple charges, including Residential Burglary, Resisting Arrest, and Indecent Exposure.
This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation that previously resulted in the arrest of Reginald Lavon Williams on April 26, 2024. Both Ms. Perkins and Mr. Williams are alleged to have burglarized a residence on Greymont Drive, with home security footage capturing their unlawful entry on March 31, 2024.
