Heidi Johnson and Nathan Ball were married May 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Mendy) Johnson of Jayess. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Dunaway of Jayess, the late Mr. Jamie Johnson of Jayess, Ms. Eloise Stewart of Monticello, the late Mr. Wylie (Buddy) Smith and Mrs. June Smith of Tylertown.
The groom is the son Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Carol) Ball of Starkville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Ball of Sandy Hook and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd (Jimmy) Brenner of Tupelo.
The bride, escorted by her father, entered the sanctuary to “The Goodness of God” by Bethel Music. She donned an ivory crepe, sheath gown from the Bridal Path, designed by Allure. With a straight neckline and sleek straps, the bodice was chicly adorned with only a tie back, creating a small key hole at her lower back. Fabric-covered buttons cascaded down the back to the end of her cathedral-length train. Her veil, also cathedral length, was cut with a fluttering silhouette and featured sporadically placed pearls throughout the length, perfectly complementing her overall ensemble. The bride’s father officiated and after the exchanging of vows, the couple observed the Lord’s supper and knelt for prayer. The happy couple exited the ceremony to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder as guests applauded.
Attending the bride as her matron of honor was her sister, Haven Busbin. The groom’s sister, Noel Peloquin, served as bridesmaid. Other bridesmaids were Sarah Hardy, Anna Logan and Hannah Rutland. The bride’s cousin, Mila Joiner, served as flower girl. The bride’s attendants wore individual variations of white alabaster satin floor length gowns.
Nathan’s father served as best man, and Nathan’s grandfather served as a groomsman. Dr. Chuck Lawless, Southeastern seminary professor and Nathan’s mentor, was also a groomsman and assisted in the ceremony. Wilson Logan and Nathan Reynolds were groomsmen, as well as the bride’s brother, Hib Johnson. Guests were ushered by Ben Newman, Blake Hill, McKenzie Carr, Jackson Walker and Nathan Pugh. The couple’s nephews, Jamie Scott Busbin and Michael James Peloquin, were ring bearers.
The cake and punch reception was held in the church fellowship hall with music provided by the bride’s brother-in-law, Evan Busbin. Guests enjoyed an ice cream bar and a variety of cakes at the groom’s table. The five-tiered almond wedding cake was iced with cream cheese frosting and decorated with white roses and greenery. “Take the World” by Johnnyswim was the couple’s choice for their first dance. Heidi and her father danced to “Have I Told You Lately” by Rod Stewart, then she surprised her mom by dancing with her to “When God Made You My Mother” by Riley Roth. Nathan and his mom chose “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Tina Turner for their dance. The couple departed through a shower of confetti and drove off in a bright yellow corvette.
After honeymooning in Cancun, the couple is at home in Clinton where Nathan is the College and Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church. Heidi is completing her last aviation license at Delta State University and will soon be an aviation instructor.
