The Mayor’s Cup is once again up for grabs as the Columbia Fire Department looks to defend its title March 30 against the Columbia Police Department in a charity softball game at The Yards. Both departments are more than excited to get things going and are pulling no punches with their trash talk.

City awarded $4 million for water, sewage improvements

The east side of Columbia, which includes a large portion of the recently annexed area, will be getting major upgrades to its water and sewage infrastructure in 2025. The City of Columbia will receive $4 million as part of the Water Resources Development Act, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will oversee the extensive project.

East Marion alum donates for student literacy

East Marion alum Fanta Coleman, on behalf of New York Life, recently donated nearly $2,000 combined to East Marion Elementary and East Marion High schools that has been earmarked for student literacy. The schools will use the funds to incentivize and reward East Marion students for literary achievement.
